In the third quarter of 2012, mHealth companies received $213.3 million in venture capital bringing the year to date total investment in the sector to $707 million according to data collected by Mobile Health Market News.
Monitoring technology garnered the largest share of venture capital dollars in the quarter taking in $89 million or 42% of the total. The sector also included two of the bigger deals of the quarter, $36 million to Tandem Diabetes Care and $25.5 million to Telcare. Both companies are diabetes related.
Health Care IT Services came in second place among mHealth sub-sectors in Q3 with a total of $83.3 million. The sector included the largest deal of the quarter, a $50 million round going to Care.com, a online social networking tool for caregivers.
