Microsoft Joins with NextGen on mHealth App

By: On November 28, 2012

Microsoft is entering the mHealth space by joining with NextGen Healthcare Information Systems to develop and launch the NextGen Medicine Cabinet app. The app allows users to store and track their prescription medications and share that information with their healthcare providers.

Last Summer Johnson & Johnson launched a similar app for management of medications called Care4Today. It is expected that the JNJ initiative is an initial step towards the company taking a more active role in disease management. Likewise, the media release on the Medicine Cabinet app states that this product is “setting the stage for future consumer-based health care IT solution, anywhere and anytime across any mobile network.”
