Survey Shows Spread of mHealth

By: On December 4, 2012

A new survey from HIMSS and Qualcomm Life reveals that two-thirds of healthcare executives reported that their organizations have mobile health policies in place. That’s up from 38 percent of respondents in 2011. Those respondents with mHealth policies believe the technology will have the biggest impact in the areas of pharmacy management (primarily medication compliance) and the continuum of care.

In terms of platforms, 95 percent of respondents stated they have policies in place for laptop use, 79 percent for smartphone use, and 57 percent have policies for the use of tablets.

According to the survey, use of mHealth technology by patients is lagging. Only 36 percent of respondents indicated that their patients were using mHealth tools.
